Today's Highlight: Tax time is right around the corner and if 1040s or W2s sound like a foreign language, you can get your questions answered by Nancy Eik and other professionals from H& R Block at the Missoula Public Library. This free event will take place on Thursday, January 10th from 7 – 9 pm at the Library, located at 301 East Main Street. The Bitterroot Cross Country Ski Club, located at 1220 West Main Street in Hamilton will be holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, January 10th at 7:00 pm. A program will be given by Liz Bradley, a wolf specialist with the MT Dept of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, who will talk about wolves in western Montana. Those attending are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to be donated to Haven House.

Living Art of Missoula is offering a new program on Saturdays called Creativity for Life. The January offering is a mask-making and writing workshop for people facing illness and loss and will be held from 10:30am – 12:30 pm for three consecutive Saturdays, beginning January 12th at the Living Art Studio of Missoula, 2925 North Reserve. This is a free program, though donations are appreciated. To register or if you have any questions, call 549-5329.

The Missoula Public Library will be showing two different videos this coming weekend. On Friday, January 11th at 7:00 pm, the French documentary, “Her Name is Sabine” will be shown as part of its ongoing World-Wide Cinema program. Then on Saturday, the PBS video, “Alexander Hamilton” will be shown at 2:00 pm. The biographical sketch of Hamilton is a “don’t miss” for all Americans and coincides with the Library’s traveling exhibit, “Alexander Hamilton: The Man Who Made Modern America.” Please call the Missoula Public Library at 721-BOOK if you have any questions.

The Mom’s Club of Helena and the Surrounding Area will be offering a Preschool and Activities Fair at the Capital Hill Mall this Saturday, January 12th. The Fair will feature activities benefiting preschool-aged children and will begin at 10:00 am. Call 227-6815 for more information.

The Flathead Audubon Society of Kalispell is sponsoring a half-day field trip roaming the west valley roads in search of raptors to identify. Bring binoculars or scope and dress for the weather. Meet at 8:30 am this Sunday, January 13th at the MT Fish, Wildlife and Parks located at 490 N. Meridian. Call Leslie at 837-4467 for further details. The Flathead Audubon Society of Kalispell is also presenting a program titled, “Bird Recording in Ireland,” this Monday, January 14th at 7:00 pm in the Community Room of The Summit, 205 Sunnyview Lane. Flathead High School Teacher, Asta Bowen, will share her experience in recording bird songs in Ireland on behalf of Cornell University Lab of Ornithology. The regular monthly meeting of the Bonner Milltown Community Council will be on Monday, January 14th at 7:00 pm at the Bonner School Library. For agenda items or other information regarding this meeting, please call Gary at 370-6584.

The Clark Fork Chapter of the Montana Native Plant Society will hold a meeting with the Montana Audubon Society this Monday, January 14th at 7:30 pm in the Gallagher Business Building on the University of Montana campus in Missoula. The featured speaker at this meeting is Steve Kohler, an expert on Montana’s butterflies.

A free tax time organization workshop to help new and existing business owners will be held from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 15th at the Business Development Center, 305 West Mercury in Butte. Please register in advance for this workshop by calling 782-7333, ext 300.
