Today's Highlight: The annual “Merry TubaChristmas” will be held this Friday evening, December 14th at 7:00 pm in the Clock Court of Southgate Mall in Missoula. For those of you who may want to join the group and play your tuba, a 3:30 registration and practice session will be held at Sentinel High School Friday afternoon. Call Gary at 728-2403, ext 7041 if you’d like more information regarding the TubaChristmas program.

Teens ages 13 – 18 are invited to make a world ornament at the Missoula Public Library’s Young Advisory Committee open meeting this afternoon from 4 – 5 pm. While making their ornaments, teens can also learn more about the library’s Young Adult Advisory Committee that helps the library plan teen events and services. If unable to attend, call the library at 721-2665 to let them know you’re interested or to ask other questions.

The Missoula County Public Schools’ Board of Trustees’ 2008-09 Elementary and Secondary Budget Work Session will be held at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow night, Thursday, December 13th in the Business Building Boardroom, 915 South Avenue West. To benefit the Flathead Youth Homes, the Festival of Lights invites homeowners and businesses in Kalispell, Whitefish, and Columbia Falls to decorate for the holidays. This week, community members will tour the homes and businesses in all three towns to determine the best decorated home and business. On December 15th a gathering will take place at the Bohemian Grange Hall for food, beverages, live music, and the announcement of two winners with prizes to be awarded by our special visitor from up north. Alateen meetings for young friends and relatives of alcoholics are held in the Missoula area on Monday nights from 7 – 8 pm at the United Methodist Church, across from the Missoula City Library. Please enter around the back. Call Sue for further information at 728-2755.

The Headwaters RC&D and the Small Business Development Center will present a Homebuyer’s Education Class on December 17th and 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Business Development Center, 305 West Mercury in Butte. Valuable information on budgeting and credit, the mortgage process, homeowners insurance and other aspects of homeownership will be discussed. The Missoula Public Library will show “Adam’s Apples,” a dark comedy from Denmark, and “Clara,” a short-stop motion animation film from Australia this Friday, December 14th at 7:00 p.m. The free films are intended for the mature audience. On December 18th the Darby Community Public Library will host the Missoula Community Chorus Chamber Chorale’s presentation of selections from Handel’s Messiah and other traditional Christmas classics. The performance will begin at 7:00 pm at St Phillip Benizi Catholic Church, 312 Miles Street. A Christmas Tea will be served by the Library Board of Trustees at 6:15 pm, immediately preceding the concert. A freewill offering will be accepted in place of an admission charge.
