Jazz At Lincoln Center for December 09, 2007 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM [Program Website]
Today's Highlight: "Red Hot Holiday Stomp" If Saint Nicholas played trumpet in New Orleans, it might sound like this. Wynton Marsalis (trumpet), his dad Ellis (piano), singer Roberta Gumbel, newcomer Dan Nimmer (piano) and old friends and bandmates Herlin Riley (drums), Wycliffe Gordon (trombone) and Wes Anderson (alto) make this annual holiday party a hit. Our favorites include "Let It Snow" and "The Sheik of Araby" and "Good King Wenceslas" with a Cajun flavor. Written by Lauren Krenzel
Jazz at Lincoln Center's Peabody Award–winning radio series, Jazz From Lincoln Center, is hosted by Wynton Marsalis and broadcast weekly to over 240 public radio affiliates nationwide through the Jazz Satellite Network. The show features the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra along with contemporary jazz composers and performers.
Jazz at Lincoln Center is the world's largest not-for-profit arts organization committed to promoting the appreciation and understanding of jazz through performance, education, and preservation.
