Today's Highlight: Music of Mary Lou Williams —"Soul on soul" wrote Duke Ellington. As composer, arranger and performer, Mary Lou Williams stood at the forefront of jazz for more than three decades. Pianist Eric Lewis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra render Williams' compositions and arrangements with exuberance and precision, including "Close to Five," "Moten Swing," and "Blue Skies."
Jazz at Lincoln Center's Peabody Award–winning radio series, Jazz From Lincoln Center, is hosted by Wynton Marsalis and broadcast weekly to over 240 public radio affiliates nationwide through the Jazz Satellite Network. The show features the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra along with contemporary jazz composers and performers.
