Chicago Symphony Orchestra for November 04, 2007 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM [Program Website]
Today's Highlight: Here is some fresh programming by guest conductor Paavo Järvi, from a concert in November, 2006. Besides the rarely-heard Kodaly Concerto for Orchestra, he introduces a work by his Estonian compatriot, Erkki-Sven Tüür, and brings back the charming, folk-based Concerto for Orchestra by Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski.
Kodaly Concerto for Orchestra (CSO commission)
Gershwin Piano Concerto in F Major (Wayne Marshall, piano)
Tüür Zeitraum (U.S. premiere)
Lutoslawski Concerto for Orchestra
Sibelius Finlandia
In addition the broadcasts will all feature stories found inside the music, interviews with the CSO musicians, guest artists and composers.
