Today's Highlight: The public is invited to join the Montana Discovery Foundation of Helena for a family-friendly moonlit hike that will explore a trail on Helena’s south side. This free hike will meet at 6:45 pm TONIGHT at the Lewis and

The University of Montana’s School of Social Work in Missoula invites anyone who is concerned with social justice and interested in making a difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities to attend an informational session on the Master’s of Social Work Program. The session will be held TONIGHT from 6:00 – 7:30 pm in room 270 of the University Center. Included in the session will be an overview of the program, information on admission and financial aid, and a time for questions and answers from faculty and student representatives. The 2007 United Nations Week Program in Missoula will feature a keynote address by Richard Drake, Chair of the University of Montana’s History Department. Professor Drake’s talk, titled, “Reflections on the Beginnings of the 21st Century,” will be presented in an evening program, beginning at 8:00 pm TONIGHT in room 123 of the Gallagher Business Building on the University campus.

The City Life Community Center, located at 1515 Fairview Ave by the Fairgrounds in Missoula, is seeking volunteers to hang and tape sheetrock tomorrow through Sunday. The City Life Community Center is Missoula’s new facility that will serve teenagers and their families and will house up to nine other non-profit organizations. The Missoula Dressage and Combined Training Association invites the public to their general meeting to be held Thursday night, October 25th at 7:30 pm in the Missoula Public Library. The Association promotes the sports of dressage, eventing and jumping horses through clinics, schooling shows, and an annual recognized U.S. Dressage Federation show. Call 721-6402 for more details.

Community volunteers and judges are needed in Helena this Friday and Saturday when Capital and Helena High Schools host over 400 students from around the state during the Helena City of Gold Speech Tournament. The North Missoula Community Development Corporation invites the public to the family-friendly event, “The Haunted Campus: A Narrated Halloween Ghost Walk.” Please join the spirit guides for a lantern-lit stroll through the deepening shadows among the historic buildings on The University of Montana campus to hear the ghostly legends, folk tales, and reports of eerie happenings. The adventures begin this Saturday and Sunday, October 27 and 28 and will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 30 and 31st. Call Molly at 829-0873 for tour times, fees, and other information.

Fans, students, alumni, and the community who support the Grizzlies are invited to give the gift of life by donating blood tomorrow, Thursday, October 25th. The American Red Cross blood drive will be open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the 3rd floor of the University Center Ballroom. This is the “Blood Battle” challenge between the UM Grizzlies and the MSU Bobcats to see which university can collect the most donated blood for patients in need. The City of Missoula invites the public to an afternoon of history coming to life through stories of individuals from Missoula’s past at this year’s Sexton-Missoula Cemetery Historical Tour. Come see volunteers dressed in times of old as they re-enact people of our past and tell over 30 stories. Admission is free with donations gladly accepted. The Lolo School Title I classroom is seeking volunteers for their HOSTS program, a satisfying and rewarding experience where volunteers and students share in the fun of learning and bonding with one another. The HOST program is a supplemental reading, language, and math program in which individual lessons are prepared by the Title I teachers to fit each student’s individual needs. Volunteers are needed Mondays – Thursdays with time slots of ½ hour or more. To sign up, or for more information, call 273-4606.
