Making Contact for September 25, 2007 9:30 PM - 10:00 PM [Program Website]
Today's Highlight: "On New Ground: Liberating Gender and Sexuality" It's a well-worn path in human history. Non-traditional and marginalized communities attacked for their lifestyles and their individual choices whether its based on sexual identity, gender equity, or the quest for collective empowerment. So how do we challenge and overcome gender and sexual oppression.
Dr. Andrea Smith of INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence co-founder, Loretta Ross, SisterSong founder, and Imani Henry, International Action Center staff organizer spoke at the U.S. Social Forum in Atlanta, Gerogia this summer. They have some answers.
Utilizing voices and perspectives rarely heard in media, Making Contact focuses on the human realities of politics, the connections between local and global events, and creative possibilities for people to engage in hopeful democratic change. Supported by independent funding sources, Making Contact is free to explore corporate connections to national and international policies.
