Today's Highlight: "Chasin' the Trane" In the 1960s, saxophonist John Coltrane took his jazz saxophone in giant steps forward many musicians took decades to catch up. For his 80th birthday, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis remakes Coltrane's masterpieces Giant Steps, Africa, and My Favorite Things, with fresh arrangements by Marsalis, Victor Goines, and Ted Nash.
Jazz at Lincoln Center's Peabody Award–winning radio series, Jazz From Lincoln Center, is hosted by Wynton Marsalis and broadcast weekly to over 240 public radio affiliates nationwide through the Jazz Satellite Network. The show features the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra along with contemporary jazz composers and performers.
