Making Contact for August 21, 2007 9:30 PM - 10:00 PM [Program Website]
Today's Highlight: "Catch of the Day: Mercury" (encore) What's the Catch of the Day? Mercury. It's poisoning our waters, our fish, our bodies, and it isn't going away anytime soon. Each year tons of mercury gets into our streams, bays, and oceans. How does it get there, what does it do to us, and how can we protect ourselves.
On this edition, we go to the San Francisco Bay. Joined by a public health analyst, we'll talk to local fisherman, new moms, restaurant-goers, and the E.P.A. about mercury.
Utilizing voices and perspectives rarely heard in media, Making Contact focuses on the human realities of politics, the connections between local and global events, and creative possibilities for people to engage in hopeful democratic change. Supported by independent funding sources, Making Contact is free to explore corporate connections to national and international policies.
