Today's Highlight: Wednesday, August 1st The annual meeting for the Flathead Lakers, a nonprofit organization working for clean water, healthy ecosystems, and lasting quality of life in the Flathead watershed, will be held from 7 – 9 pm TONIGHT at the Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork. Flathead Lake Biological Station scientist, Dr. Ric Hauer, will discuss river, groundwater, and lake connections at this meeting and the public is invited to attend. Call 883-1346 with any questions.
Habitat for Humanity of Missoula will host a potluck dinner TONIGHT at 6:00 pm at St Paul Lutheran Church. 30 members of the “Bike and Build” cross-country cyclist team will present a program on their mission to support low-income housing. For complete details, contact Phil at 728-8262.
The Flathead County Library System’s Summer Reading program at the Columbia Falls Branch Library invite kids of all ages to a presentation to be given by Ruth and Sam Neff on how to decode Russian words and phrases. This program’s new time is scheduled for Wednesday, August 15th at 10:30 am. Plenty of time still exists for children and teens to join the summer reading program at any one of the Flathead Country Libraries, so please stop by one of the branches to receive program information and to register. To benefit the Granite County Historical Society, the Writers in the Round will begin its series of concerts on Thursday, August 2nd at 7:00 pm at St Andrews Episcopal Church in Philipsburg. “Writers in the Round” is based on the Nashville music format in which artists perform on stage in an acoustic round robin fashion. The Cabin Fever Quilters of Mineral County will be hosting a “Quilting on the Clark Fork River” quilt show this Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm in the Superior High School multipurpose room. The show features quilter Della Russell of St. Regis, a raffle quilt, a boutique of handmade items, a raffle basket, door prizes, and People’s Choice voting. For more information, call 826-1843.
The Hamilton Players will be presenting “McManus in Love,” this Friday and Saturday nights, August 3rd and 4th at The Hamilton Playhouse, 100 Rickets Road in Hamilton. Stevensville’s Art and Sculpture Society will be out in front of Bury’s Gallery, located at 213 Main Street, during the 95th annual Creamery Picnic on August 3rd and 4th. They will be selling Scarecrow Festival t-shirts, Two Left Feet calendars, and raffle tickets for the Charles M. The first Annual Mountain Jam will take place this Saturday, August 4th at 4:00 pm at the J. Neils Park, located on Highway 37 North in Libby. This will be a fun Musical Festival, featuring Kelly Joe Phelps with opening acts by the Broken Valley Road Show and the Alan Lane Band. There will also be a beer garden and food vendors. The Helena College of Technology will be holding Beginning Rock Climbing classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, August 6, 7, and 8th from 1:00 – 6:00 pm. The Missoula Art Museum will be conducting art classes entitled, “Art and the Natural World for Kids.” The classes are will be held for kids ages 6 – 11 years from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on August 9th through the 12th at the museum, located at 335 North Pattee Street. As observers and artists, students will explore the connections between art, science, and nature, and will venture to the river and parks to draw, paint, and sculpt Missoula’s beautiful natural environment.
