A small group of visionary naturalists is helping indigenous people develop new industries that preserve their culture, and their environment. But it’s not about intruding on the animal’s habitat. With stringent controls on the number of visitors and the length of their stay, guests venture out in tiny boats, then watch and wait for the whales to come to them. The experience changes lives for the humans who come face to face with the largest animal on earth. And the future of the whales is changed as well, as fisherman and their families discover they are richer in every way when they let the cetaceans live. Since 1973, New Dimensions has been exploring the landscape of possibilities of a more just, sustainable and compassionate world by having deep dialogues with individuals who are actively making a creative contribution in the world.
New Dimensions has interviewed hundreds of the greatest minds on the planet such as the late mythologist Joseph Campbell, poet Maya Angelou and physicist David Bohm. It has featured Pulitzer prize winners E.O. Wilson from Harvard and poet/ecologist Gary Snyder.
Primarily the medium used to communicate these ideas is radio. New Dimensions national series is heard, for the most part, on National Public Radio affiliates and other public stations. This flagship series airs weekly on over 350 stations around the U.S. and another 300 stations in Australia on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
