This Friday, February 2nd from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. eighteen dentists and their staff in Missoula, Stevensville, Polson, and Hamilton will be providing free dental care to local children from low-income families who lack a regular dentist. To find the names of the participating dentists, or if you qualify, please contact Dr. Ryan Huckeby at 728-9442.

The American Red Cross will be conducting local blood drawings throughout the upcoming week. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, they will be in the Missoula and Kalispell areas and on Monday and Tuesday, February 5th and 6th, they will be in Ronan, Bigfork, Kalispell, as well as in Missoula. To set up an appointment to give the “gift of life,” call Judi at the American Red Cross at 543-6695.

The Montana Office of Public Instruction will be posting No Child Left Behind “Report Cards” for all schools and districts beginning February 1st. The report card can be found by going to their Web site: www.opi.mt.gov and click on the tab labeled “N C L B Report Card.” These
“Report Cards” are also available at the Missoula County Public Schools and in the District’s Administration Office at 215 South 6th West. Parents who have any questions can contact their child’s school principal or call Becker at 728-2400, ext. 1046.

Tomorrow night, February 1st at 7:00 p.m., the Chanteur Choir of Corvallis High School will be hosting a musical dessert feast. Students will perform solos and in ensembles as guests enjoy superb desserts. This event is open to the public and tickets are $5 at the door. Call 951-0893 if you have any questions.

The University of Montana in Missoula is sponsoring free income tax assistance for low-income taxpayers with simple returns making less that $40,000 per year. Volunteers will be available on a first come, first served basis every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., beginning Saturday, February 3rd through March 10th in room 119 of the Gallagher Business Building on the UM campus.

Missoula County Public Schools will sponsor an early childhood screening for children up to age 5 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, February 7th through the 9th. This screening is free and available to children who live within the elementary and middle school attendance areas for Missoula County Public Schools. Children will be screened at Jefferson School on Wednesday, February 7th from 4 – 7 p.m.; on Thursday, February 8th from 3 – 7 p.m.; and on Friday February 9th from 8 a.m. to noon. The Mai Wah Museum and the Butte Silver Bow Arts Foundation invite all interested artists to celebrate The Year of the Boar by entering your original artwork into a unique exhibit. All mediums, sizes, and styles are welcome, but your artwork must be of a boar or a pig. The artwork will be up for sale and will be exhibited from February 12th through the 28th at the Museum of Fine Arts – Butte in the old uptown YMCA building. Call Jana at 723-7600 to register your intention to exhibit or with any questions.
