THE UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA
Montana Public Radio is licensed to The University of Montana,
located in Missoula, Montana. The University of Montana’s
primary focus is undergraduate liberal arts and science programs.
It also has professional schools in journalism, law, business,
forestry, education, pharmacy, and the fine arts, as well
as a 25-program College of Technology. About 12,000 students
attend The University of Montana. The school has had 28 Rhodes
Scholars, seven Pulitzer Prize winners, and many national
honors in law and ethics competitions. The athletic teams
are also outstanding, boasting a national football championship
and 12 appearances in the NCAA women's basketball playoffs.
The University of Montana’s hometown of Missoula is
located west of the Continental Divide about 40 miles from
the Idaho border. It is a culturally active community (pop.
85,000) that is surrounded by mountains and wilderness.
